Interview with Steve Hastie, the owner of The Sweet People company UK

"The Sweet People are the UK’s leading branded confectionary supplier. Our award-winning team produces creatively packaged luxury chocolates and gourmet sweets for promotional campaigns, events, staff initiatives, gifts and product launches.

Our reputation for delivering exceptional quality and innovative ideas using the latest digital print and packaging technology has resulted in us working directly with SCS Automaberg and we have recently installed their new DCH60 cut and creasing machine fort making carton boxes and swing tags.

Traditionally most of our products were packaged in plastic based materials but the market now requires a more environmentally friendly and full recyclable product and printed carton boxes are the best solution. The challenge was to find a process that was very quick and easy to set up and run different size boxes in short runs, typically 100, 250, 500 or 1,000 pieces

During Covid lockdown we worked remotely with SCS Automaberg to develop this solution and Massimo Scarpellini and his team were very helpful in guiding us through the best way to produce short run digitally printed boxes. The machine was installed in September 2021 and has proved to be one of our best investments as demand for carton boxes has exceeded our expectations.
